Observation Notes:
Epsilon Monocerotis resides in a populous star field. Color was subtle, and it seemed that the A8 primary was pale yellow while the F5 secondary appeared steel blue-gray. Other observers see the colors as follows:
- Smythe: Golden Yellow / Lilac
- Richard Jepeal: Medium Yellow / Grayish Purple
- Jeff Burton: White / Orange
- M. Bracewell: Blue / Gray
- Ian at Cloudy Nights: Pale Yellow / Slate
There is a 3rd, 12th-magnitude star 94 arc seconds away at a PA of 254 degrees that is listed as the C component of Struve 900. This seems to match up with a faint star I plotted to the west of the brighter pair.

Just today I found out your web site. I only have seen the Double Star section. I think you have done more than EXCELLENCE job.
I will began to compare you picturas against what I will see with my telescope (Meade 8″ classic LX 200).
Thank yu for all your efford and for shearing with us.
Sincerelly your
Ricardo Calderon
Ricardo, thank you, I’m glad you are enjoying the site! I often compare what I’ve observed to other observers’ sketches too. I keep links to a variety of other sketch galleries here: Astronomical Sketching Resources. Scroll down to the “Astronomical Sketching Galleries” section…you’ll find a lot of great sites to browse.
