Saturn, Venus and Mercury Conjunction

There’s been a triple-conjunction in the works the past couple weeks. Saturn, Venus and Mercury have been edging closer to each other. On the way back from a trip to Oklahoma, we spotted the trio forming a nice line along the ecliptic at sunset about 50 miles outside Flagstaff. I wish I could have stopped and grabbed a picture with the silhouette of the San Francisco Peaks cupping the sight. But I did manage to get a shot a few days later on Friday, June 24th.

Left to right: Saturn, Venus and Mercury. The star, Pollux, sits just right of center. (click image for larger version)
