As the sun set on our way to Lake Pleasant, a parapet of thunderstorms began to erupt in a long line. About 15 minutes after I took this picture, the lightning started to flicker. It would've made for some good long-exposure pictures. But we were running late and I had to let it go.

San Francisco Peaks Fire

WHERE: 10 mi. South of the San Francisco Peaks, Flagstaff, AZ
WHEN: Summer 2001
This campfire-caused fire spotted up the peaks in a flash. Fortunately it didn't turn into a crown fire, and scar the mountain badly.
