Alright, here's the scoop. I saw my doctor today. It was a good visit. I didn't feel as rushed as I sometimes do. Anyway, the cardiac holter record didn't show anything abnormal. But she's still going to have me get an x-ray, and a cardiac sonogram just to be sure. She did prescribe some Prevacid for acid reflux, to be sure and take that irritation out of the equation. Hmmm, what else...should I describe my bowel movements for you now?
I didn't think so.
She did prescribe geocaching as a way to get my lazy butt out of the house and doing something fun and active with the kids. Hah :D
Also got a flu shot. Now my shoulder hurts like I'm being frogged every few minutes. :P
You sure you don't want me to describe my--
ok ok :'(
Good news Jeremy. I wonder why my doctor didn't want me to do a 24 hour EKG when I had complaints of chest pain? Maybe I should get a 2nd opinion...
Woo.
I don't know Robert, I'd be inclined to get another opinion. Then again, as stated, I've turned into a hypochondriac. Maybe part of it is that I had radiation therapy right over a portion of my heart ten years ago. So maybe they're more willing to pull out a stop or two. It's a strange thing, playing risk/benefit odds with a person's life vs. the insurance company's statistical database and pocketbook. Oy. I hope you can get it looked at more thoroughly.
Got the heart monitor yesterday, after having some pretty bad near-blackout-type spells on Wednesday. It comes off today at around 2:00. They did some bloodwork as well, and I was really brave and didn't pass out when they stuck me with the needle.
Do you think anyone offered me a cookie, or a gold star? No they did most certainly not. Nobody even said, "You were so brave not to pass out when they stuck you with the needle to suck up your precious bodily fluids, Robert."
Anyway. :D
Oh man I'm glad you are getting 'examined' more thoroughly. Hopefully, it'll be something related to anxiety instead of something truly cardiac in nature, but it's so good to get that picked over with a fine tooth comb to be absolutely sure. I really hope things go well. Be sure to wash those sucker spots real good when you get home from the doctor. I missed scrubbing one ever so thoroughly, and it itched like the dickens for 3 days afterward. Also, it's fun telling the doctor that your peak heart rate for the day at 7 pm was due to a family argument. Heh. They get real nervous, like they don't want to go any further and find out you were pounding on them like pizza dough or something. 'Yeah doc, I had them all hanging on hooks in the hallway and I was walking up & down Three-Stooging them in the face and eyes for a half hour.'
My needle people don't hand out gold stars either :'(
Keep in touch. Let us know how things are going.
