C/2004 Q2 (Machholz) - JAN 6, 2005 Update

I went to town on the light pollution in the image, and finally got something that would let me pop the tails out some more. It made a huge difference. The coma is still obviously green. But now the ion tail appears blue, while the short dust tail is a bit yellowish. I didn't do any color painting to bring those out. The only thing I did was flatten out the reddish sky gradien so I wouldn't have a huge red pepperoni in the middle of the shot when I boosted detail in the darkest areas.

Incredible shot! Totally blows me away - the detail is incredible, and more than you'll ever see through-the-eyepiece!
